Sofia works as a pediatric nurse at a children welfare centre.
There she vaccinate, weight and measure and make assessments of the children's development. Her job also includes prevention advice on children's diet, exercise and acceded risk.
Sofia works 8 hours a day and had a 3 year long education to become a nurse. And after that a one year long to become a pediatric nurse.
She wanted to become a pediatric nurse because she has always liked to work with children.
- It feels like you can make a big difference in the children's lives , it's fun and no day is alike another.
Sofia wanted to work with children instead of adults because it was a natural step to take, since she worked with children before she educated to be one.
Sofia says meeting children and their families and see them evolve from when they are newborn until they start school is the best thing about her job but the hardest thing is to see those children who suffer at home, whose parents are struggling to take care of their children.
I asked what the most fun thing working with children is.
- It's hard to say because there are so much fun things, but I really like that they are spontaneous and curious and it's fun to talk to them and get to know them.
Sofia has an obligation to report someone or something which she founds hard if she suspects something but is not sure. But if she knows that the parents beats the kids it's easy to report. She also says that she doesn't miss children that she's been working with before but sometimes she can think of them.
